Soil samples were collected from groundnut growing fields of different villages of Kachchh and Banaskantha districts. Fifteen Trichoderma spp. (seven isolated from local soil and eight collected from other institutes) were tested in vitro for their efficacy against most aflatoxigenic (AF-8) isolate of Aspergillus flavus. All the fifteen Trichoderma isolates inhibited the growth of A. flavus. The maximum growth inhibition 85.05 % was found in isolates T5 (Trichoderma spp., Sardarkrushinagar), T14 (Trichoderma spp., Mandvi) and T15 (Trichoderma spp., Nakhatrana) which were at par with each other. The least effective Trichoderma isolate was T8 (Trichoderma viride, Anand), as it inhibited 20.87 % growth of A. flavus. Various local isolates were more effective to inhibit the A. flavus growth (per cent inhibition ranged from 68.85 to 85.05 %) as compared to the other isolates.
