The present study is based on economic analysis of chickpea production with the objective to work out the cost, returns and post harvest losses of chickpea in the study area. The present study was conducted in Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh. Out of four blocks in the district, two blocks, namely Kawardha and Lohara were selected randomly for the study. Five villages were selected from each of the two blocks and ten respondents were selected from each village. In all, 10 numbers of villages and 100 respondents were selected for the study. The primary data were collected for year 2014-15. Total cost incurred in chickpea cultivation amounted to be Rs. 19464.78 per ha. Average main yield estimated was 15.60 quintals and by product yield was 7.86 quintals in chickpea. Average gross income of chickpea cultivation was found to be 51509.15 Rs/ha. Average input-output ratio worked out to be 1:2.65 at chickpea.
