Bioeffecacy of Different Entomopathogenic Fungi against Wheat Aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi L.)

Abstract

The field experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of different entomopathogenic fungi against wheat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi L.) and seasonal incidence of wheat aphid during Rabi 2014 at the experimental farm of Department of Entomology, PGI, MPKV, Rahuri. Studies on bioeffecacy of entomopathogenic fungi against wheat aphid revealed that MetarrhiziumanisopliaelxlO8cfu/ml @ 7.5 g/1 showed lowest number of aphid population i.e. 30.45, 19.42, 8.78 and 19.55 aphids/tiller at 14 days after treatment during first, second, third and average of three spray treatments, respectively. Verticillium lecanii1 × 108cfu/ml @ 7.5 g/1, Metarrhiziumanisopliae1 x 108cfu/ ml @ 5 g/1 and Verticilliumlecanii1 x 108cfu/ml @ 5 g/1 also found effective against wheat aphid. Bioassay study of aphids in laboratory conditions revealed that highest LT50 value of 4.16 DAT was obtained in treatment with entomopathogenic fungus, M. anisopliae @ 7.5 g/1. Mycosis in aphid was observed at 4-7 DAT.
