Knowledge on contribution of different yield components on total tuber production per unit time is essential to make successful breeding strategies to develop high yielding varieties. The improvement to this direction is based on the characters showing high correlation with yield as well as significant inter-se association at desired direction and presence of significant variability, high heritability and genetic advance. The present investigation was outlined to that direction involving 30 genotypes and 12 characters following experiment in randomized block design with three replications. Significant variation among genotypes perceived for all characters. Genotypes LB-4 followed by V1-121, Kufri Surya and PH-1 showed highest performance for a number of characters including yield/ plant and lowest number of desirable interjected leaflets favouring high tuber yield was noticed in K-22, PH-1 and Kufri Pukhraj. Maximum GCV, PCV, heritability and genetic advance as percent of mean were recorded in number of branches/plant, number of leaves/plant, number of interjected leaflets/leaf and total number of tubers/plant. Tuber yield showed high positive significant association with a number of characters of which percent of plant emergence, total number of tubers and l:b ratio of terminal leaflets showed maximum direct effect.
